Our new 24-Hour Student AD&D Coverage is the insurance colleges and universities have been asking for. Not only does it provide a lump sum indemnity benefit in the event of a student death (including those resulting from suicide, intoxication, or otherwise under the influence) or accident resulting in dismemberment or paralysis, but it goes even further to help the institution with crisis management expenses surrounding such an event or any act of violence whether on campus or away from it.
In addition to the lump sum benefit, reimbursement up to the selected benefit amount is available for expenses such as mental health counseling for those affected by the event, counseling and medical expenses for those affected by an act of violence, and travel for parents and immediate family to come to campus. Protect the mental health of those affected by such a crisis. And, unlike other policies, we have flexible terms in how the crisis management benefit is allocated.
What’s really unique about these new Crisis Management benefits is that we’ve given YOU the flexibility to decide how to use them. For instance, you could choose to cover the cost of expenses for:
- Counseling for 10 close friends of a student who committed suicide
- Counseling & medical expense for a student who witnessed or was hurt in a violent act
- Travel expenses for an athletics team to attend an out-of-town funeral
- Expense for Parents or immediate family members including travel, housing, and meals
The policy permits flexibility for you to determine the scope of the services needed to manage the crisis.

Plus Crisis Management Benefits Provide students and families who are affected by the incident with the resources needed to manage the crisis including mental health counseling, associated travel expenses, and flexibility for the institution to work with us in determining other possible qualified expenses. It could be a student who witnessed or was involved in a tragedy such as a shooting or covered student who committed suicide. Or it could be someone who is the victim of a violent act. You have flexibility in determining the resources needed to ensure students or families in crisis get the help they need. |
